Treetop Golden Hour
SEPTEMBER 9 – We invite you to enjoy an evening with us in the treetops. When the shadows grow long and the evening light has a golden glow, that is a special time to be in the forest. Take a stroll on the Forest Canopy Walk during the golden hour, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy a cocktail from SILO Distillery.
ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Survivor!
SEPTEMBER 12 – Stranded in the woods of the Nature Center with little more than the clothes on your back! You and your tribe of castaways must learn to provide food, fire, shelter and water for yourselves. Learn basic wilderness survival skills such as compass navigation, fire building, shelter building, creating a water filter, and foraging for wild edibles all while competing against your rival tribe in a set of team building challenges inspired by the TV show.
Yoga in the Canopy
SEPTEMBER 13 – Welcome to a yoga class like you’ve never experienced before. Ascend into the treetops on the Forest Canopy Walk and immerse yourself in the beauty of the summer foliage. Expect a slow-flow class that will incorporate sun salutations, standing poses, balance poses, and brief meditation. All levels of experience are welcome.
Wild Night Out
September 17 – Join us for a special after-hours evening at the ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Nature Center, where we’ll dive into the wild, weird, and wonderful world of animal sex. We’re welcoming author and illustrator Perrin Roosevelt Ireland for a book talk and presentation based on her new brilliant, punchy, illustrated graphic non-fiction book, Poking the Squid — a joyful, science-backed romp through how the other 99.99% of species get it on.
Drawing from Nature: Hawks
SEPTEMBER 19 – Experience the art of nature journaling through the captivating presence of live hawks. In this unique workshop, participants will spend time observing the ºÚÁÏ¿Æ resident raptors and use their observations as inspiration for sketching, drawing, painting, and recording discoveries in their journals. In the afternoon, join Lois and Cynthia for a bird’s eye view of migrating hawks at Mount Ascutney State Park!
Chang Memorial Fly Fishing Event
SEPTEMBER 19 – Join us for a day of fly fishing at the home of ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Advisor Judy Callens in White River Junction, Vermont. Inspired by David Chang, a fly fishing enthusiast and generous supporter of ºÚÁÏ¿Æ, our family-friendly event is designed to teach children the sport of fly fishing and the importance of healthy ecosystems. Fly fishing and fly tying is geared for children 8 years and up, with additional activities available for younger ages. In partnership with Trout Unlimited, this free event is an engaging experience for families and friends to tie and cast flies, and explore the fish habitat.
Magnificent Mammals Day
SEPTEMBER 26 – Join us for a day exploring the amazing diversity of mammals. Discover the specialties of our furred cousins and find out how important they are to our ecosystems. Meet a few live mammals that could live in your backyard with Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, and explore the wonderful world of goats with Five Rooster Farm. Hear tales of the mystical world of mammals with the Vermont Museum of Natural History. With live mammals, pelts and skulls, and hands-on activities and crafts, it’s sure to be a magnificent day!
Coffee in the Canopy
SEPTEMBER 30 – Greet the day high among the treetops on the Forest Canopy Walk at this free, adults-only cultivation series. Before our opening hours, sip coffee and savor fresh pastries as the morning sun lights up the Ottauquechee River and the forest foliage. Enjoy conversation with our Executive Director Alden Smith and ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Staff in a peaceful forest setting.

OCTOBER 3 – Join us for Sensory Friendly Hour at the ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Nature Center, a special morning experience designed for visitors who prefer a quieter, less crowded environment. For an hour in the morning, we minimize noise, crowds, and other sensory stimuli throughout our exhibits and trails. Guests are welcome to stay and explore at their own pace until our regular closing time at 5 PM.

Dinosaur Discoveries
NOVEMBER 14 – Join a ºÚÁÏ¿Æ educator as we explore dinosaur discoveries! Meet some of T. Rex’s great great grandchildren, and get a chance to touch a living fossil in a program featuring ºÚÁÏ¿Æ live animal ambassadors. Next brush up on your paleontology skills and join a scavenger hunt for dinosaur bones.
Paint, Sip, & Soar
DECEMBER 12 – Join a ºÚÁÏ¿Æ Educator for a one of a kind – Paint, Sip & Soar – featuring a live raptor model. Get up close and personal with one of our avian ambassadors and garner techniques in painting from life, all while learning about raptor natural history and anatomy.
